Using hide glue on the wrapping linen worked very well, resulting in a tough, hard surface, so that’s a win. I mucked about for a while figuring out how to cut the leather, cut and soaked it, then took it home to sit in front of the television while I sewed. Somehow though, I managed to twist it as I sewed:
So… I will have to take it off and start again. I’ve got sufficient leather left to do so, and this time will leave a somewhat more generous seam allowance as well.
